But they realized too late that the Antarctic season was just two weeks away. Missing even a day could mean failing the mission entirely. With the clock ticking, they now had to hitchhike to Sydney, earn €1,500, fly to North America, double that amount, and get to South America—before even attempting the impossible: reaching Antarctica for free.
